The Municipal Utility Authority was acquired in 1971 by South Brunswick Township, servicing water and sewer to South Brunswick residents. South Brunswick Utilities also service the franchises of Franklin, Plainsboro, North Brunswick, Monroe, and Cranbury. The Water & Sewer Revenue Division bills and collects the revenue of the township water & sewer utilities. The revenue is utilized to maintain and offset the operating water and sewer costs. As the township and all franchise areas serviced by our water and sewer continues to grow, the Water and Sewer Revenue Division has constantly maintained to upgrade our billing and collection system to effectively service our customers.

This form needs to be filled out annually prior to the BILL date in order to receive the discount. Please scan and email a PDF copy of your completed application to utilityrev@sbtnj.net.  Pictures will not be accepted.  If you are a new applicant, we will also need proof age.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

 

·        You must be 65 or older.  We reserve the right to request proof of age at any time.

·        You must be a full-time resident at the property.  We reserve the right to request proof of residency.  For those homeowners who have multiple residences, you must reside at this address more than 50% of the time and the bills should be mailed to that address.

·        Documentation is required if you are filing for the disabled discount. We reserve the right to request documentation if we do not currently have it on file. (i.e. Social Security Disability benefit statement or award letter).

 

2026 Application Form

If you are selling your home and require a final water/sewer bill, please fill out the request form at least 48 hours prior to closing.  Once the final is scheduled, all parties listed on the form will receive a copy of the final calculation.  There is a $50.00 processing fee associated with this request.

Final Meter Read Request Form

As per N.J. Statute 54:4-64 and South Brunswick Code#114-61.7, property tax and water & sewer billing must be mailed to the “individuals assessed/owners of premises” at their mailing address.  We do not bill tenants. 

 

Once completed, we will forward the new information to our Tax Assessor’s office.  Our records are updated from the tax assessor’s office monthly.  Your updated mailing address will be reflected on your next property tax bill and water/sewer bill.

 

Change of Address Form

Residents may enroll in our NO FEE ACH Direct Debit plan for water & sewer and/or property taxes. Your payment would be debited directly from your checking or savings account quarterly.  Please complete the highlighted areas, then sign & submit the enrollment form with a voided check to our office no later than 15 days before the quarterly due date.

Funds will be deducted from your bank on the 25th of the Month or the next business day, following your BILL DATE. 

 

Example :  Bill Date 1/31 – funds will debit your account on 02/25 or the next business day

Winter Termination Program Notice for Residential Ratepayers

 

The NJ Department of Community Affairs has implemented a Winter Termination Program to prevent service discontinuation for eligible residential customers receiving residential from November 15th through March 15th. Service cannot be disconnected during this period to those residential customers who demonstrate at the time of the intended termination that they are:

 

  1. Recipients of LIHEAP, or certified as eligible therefor pursuant to standards set by the New Jersey Department of Human Services;
  2. Recipients of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF);
  3. Recipients of Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI);
  4. Recipients of Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD);
  5. Recipients of General Assistance (GA) benefits;
  6. Recipients of the Universal Service Fund (USF);
  7. Recipients of the Low-income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP);
  8. Recipients of benefits under the Lifeline Credit Program; or
  9. Persons unable to pay their utility bills because of circumstances beyond their control. Such circumstances shall include, but shall not be limited to, unemployment, illness, medically related expenses, recent death of an immediate family member, and any other circumstances, which might cause financial hardship.

Any financial assistance that a customer receives for water or sewer utilities, the customer shall forward all such benefits to South Brunswick Township.
